A special metal plate is heated to a certain temperature and placed between two plastic surfaces which are to be joined, once the surface have melted the hot plate is withdrawn and pressure is applied to fuse the two piece together I a strong, permanent bond, this procedure is useful for joining plastic pieces that are relatively hard, complex in shape or large in size.
